THE ANIMALS

Pienso que todo aquel que es fanático
de la música de los años 60, debería
saber que existió una banda llamada
The Animals (1964-1967), quienes
formaron parte de la escena del blues
británico de inicios de los 60.
Eran originarios de la ciudad
porturaria Newcastle-on-Tyne
en el noreste de Inglaterra
Presentaron únicamente 3 LPs:
“The Animals”, “The Animals On Tour”
y “Animal Tracks”.
Los integrantes de la banda eran
Eric Burdon (cantante), Alan Price (organo)
, (bajista) Chas Chandler, (baterista)
John Steel y (guitarrista) Hilton Valentine..
El centro temático de los Animals es la
identificación con la forma de vida
de la clase trabajadora.
Lo que es el sonido de la banda se
definía por la forma en que hacía
pesar el órgano en las composiciones,
lo que le daba una atmósfera entre
el jazz y el blues, a esto se agrega que
el cantante Burdon tenia una voz
cargada de sentimiento, ponía su poderosa
garganta al servicio de unos textos crudos
y unas interpretaciones descarnadas.
Creo que si algún blanco "sonaba auténtico"
cantando el blues, ese era Burdon
(bajo mi humilde opinión).
La canción que los llevo al reconocimiento
mundial fue "The House Of The Rising Sun"
(“La Casa del Sol Naciente”), que es un
arreglo de un tema folk de Josh White
y Bob Dylan.
The animals crearon temas muy buenos
como “Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood”,
“We Gotta Get Out of This Place”,
“It's My Life” y “Don't Bring Me Down”.
Lamentablemente la vida de la banda
fue muy corta, debido a peleas internas
de sus integrantes por el ego, éxito
y drogas, pero pese a esto dejaron una
obra que dura con el tiempo,
siendo The Animals clásicos
del blues blanco.
Sí,sí,sí son buenísimos!!!!!!
